This is another video that boils the absurdity of religion down to a few
sentences (around minute 3-4 or so when he talks about Jesus).
This series explains some commonplace things in a way that shows really
well how much fun science can be and Richard Feynman’s emotions in these
videos also show he is really enjoying himself here.

In the past when I started a blog I always stopped after a few posts.
This time I decided to plan ahead and only post the things I really
think everyone should see or read. Videos, stories,… that struck a
special chord for one reason or another. Things I could recommend to
anyone.
We will see how it will go.
This video made from original audio material of Carl Sagan reading from
his book “Pale Blue Dot” and music and videos from various sources
provides a good perspective on humanity and its role in the big picture.
I like this video for several reasons. For one thing Kenneth Branagh
performs the part of Henry V. very well and really shows why Shakespeare
is considered one of the (or even the) greatest wordsmiths of all time.
Several of the terms from this speech and another one in the same movie
are still often referenced or used today (“Band of Brothers” from this
one and “Once more unto the breach” from the other).
It also makes it easy to understand the ideas of honor and courage and
how people can consider them worthy of risking their lives as well as
the effect of well chosen words on large groups of people.
I am undecided on whether this is a good thing when it can be used to
enable such large-scale bloodshed but it is hard to deny the attraction
of this speech.
Henry V – St.Crispin’s Day Speech
This is one of my favourite videos summarizing the absurdity of religion
(Christianity in particular in this case). I especially like the part up
to “…he loves you.”.
In this TED video (btw, there are a lot of good videos on that site) Dan
Gilbert explains about synthetic happiness and why people might be
happier when they don’t have a choice which can help understand the
conservative mindset of one type of family, one type of role for each
gender, one religion, one nation, one ideology,…
